This question was part of the RAND Forecasting Initiative (RFI).

What percentage of global semiconductor revenue will come from the Americas region in 2024?

                                                                                                                                                                  *[Github](<https://github.com/SaicharanRitwik39/Forecasting/tree/main/GlobalDiversitySemiconductor_Americas_2024>)*

The semiconductor industry is crucial to modern technology, driving innovations across consumer electronics and advanced computing. Analyzing regional distribution of semiconductor revenue provides valuable insights into broader economic and technological trends. In this blog, we will examine the share of the Americas in global semiconductor revenue for the current year, aiming to address the question posed on RFI.

For anyone curious, the data is available at WSTS.

The monthly revenue shares of the Americas region for 2024 have been as follows: 26.56%, 27.36%, 27.69%, 28.07%, 29.11%, and 31.19%. To better visualize these figures, the following pie charts illustrate the distribution of semiconductor revenue from the Americas across these months.

The overall share of the Americas in global semiconductor revenue for the year to date stands at 28.43%. This represents a consistent increase from January through June, reflecting a steady growth trend in the region’s contribution to the global market. This is evident in the plot below as well.

Given the current trend, it appears that the share of the Americas in global semiconductor revenue will remain above 28%. However, it will be important to monitor how the trend develops in the coming months to make more accurate projections. Especially because the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) predicts semiconductor revenue in the Americas to rise to $168 billion in 2024 (WSTS). This would account for 27.5% of predicted worldwide billings for the year, up from 25.5% in 2023 (source: RFI).
